2012 Upper Midwest Regional Emmy® Honors The PlayList for “The Brush Off!”
WDSE•WRPT's showcase for the arts is honored with a Regional Emmy Award. The Brush Off, created by The PlayList, highlights the annual quick paint competition hosted by the Grand Marais Art Colony on the stunning shore of Lake Superior. The special was produced and edited by Steven Ash and Karen Sunderman, with WDSE photographers Judy Morrissey and Ted Pellman, and production support from Nick Clingman and Jacob LeBeau.
“It is inspiring to work with the arts community and to showcase their amazing talent on a statewide basis through The PlayList,” says Karen Sunderman, host/producer of The PlayList. “When that work is recognized by peers within the television industry, it’s great confirmation that we’re conveying the quality of creative life in our area.”
The Regional Emmy was awarded for Special Event Coverage-Edited. Additional nominations for WDSE•WRPT included The PlayList special presentation of “Low in Concert,” and “Stage to Screen: Historic Theaters of the North.” The Upper Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences received more entries in 2012 than ever before. The Chapter covers a five state region including Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota, North Dakota and Iowa.
