Scott Murphy, muralist, on The Playlist

Scott Murphy paints big. His latest work is 48-feet long and celebrates the Arts & Cultural Heritage of Duluth and St. Louis County. See it in person in the rotunda at the Historic Depot in Duluth, MN.

Artist Biography

  • He received his Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts in 1975 at the University of Minnesota Duluth.
  • He works as a union painter and lettermaker full time, but still finds time to devote to his oil paintings.
  • He learned to paint big as a working billboard artist for several years.
  • He recently finished a large 23.5 foot tall mural at the Duluth Public Library. The mural is titled "Books on the Plaza". Previous murals can been see at the Historic Duluth Depot (PlayList clip) and on University Ave. in St. Paul, MN.
  • He lives in Proctor, MN.
  • His work can be seen at Lizzards Art Gallery in Duluth, MN.
