Grand Rapids’ main thoroughfare has three bright, new additions. Hand-painted murals adorn the MacRostie Art Center. Children in Bovey, Coleraine, Grand Rapids and Deer River created the three-part project along Grand Rapids’ Highway 2. The Playlist spotlights the unique partnership between local artists and the kids who helped make the murals a reality.

Generations of veterans from all five branches of the armed services united in a moment of time. With the Iron Range Veteran’s Memorial, “Shoulder to Shoulder,” Gareth Andrews creates something of a human time capsule. The Playlist visits the life size memorial that captures over 80 years of servicemen in a moment of time, space and action.

Grand Marais’ North House Folk School host a cool independent film festival on Minnesota’s north coast. The annual Winter’s Gathering and Arctic Film Festival includes classes on various crafts and skills from the north and features films about the Arctic, including Wild Bill’s Run, by Duluth filmmaker Mike Scholtz. North House Director Greg Wright shares his perspective on this year’s event with The Playlist.

Musician Hannah Rey is changing gears and venturing into the world of solo music. Her unique indie-folk sound and mellow guitar playing continue to grow her fan base. Hannah Rey brings a fresh, original voice to The Playlist.
